Sleepy Anteater Sticks His Tongue Out At The Camera
Anastasia Arellano
We've portably seen pictures of them; they've got long snouts that they use to go looking for ants. But you've probably never seen an anteater's tongue in action so up close.

Lucky for you, there is an adorable video that shows off one anteater in particular.
Otis is a northern tamandua - also known as a lesser anteater - who lives at the Chase Sanctuary in Florida.

His handlers managed to get a very adorable video of the sleepy little animal just after a nap. While in the video it looks like he's sticking his tongue out at the handlers, it's actually a gesture that he's using as a means to gauge the air outside.
As it turned out, he decided he didn't want to get out of bed and face the day - not that we can blame him.

The sanctuary explained to ViralHog, "The sleepy Tamandua is deciding if he wants to wake up at Chase Sanctuary in Florida. He will decide after he tests the air with his 18-inch long tongue. In the end, he opted for more sleep."
