Captive Lion Shows He's Still "King Of The Jungle" With Impressive Roar
A lion at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, IL may have spent his life in captivity, but that didn't dampen his roar.
A lion's roar is iconic; it's something most people think of when they picture lions with their great manes and huge teeth.

It's interesting to think that not all cats roar and it seems to be mostly practiced by large cats like lions and tigers.
According to Smithsonian Magazine, scientists discovered lions and tigers have different vocal cords that other species of cats which is likely what allows them to roar with such power.

Natural Habitat Adventures explains that a lion's roar can be heard up to five miles away. After hearing the video of the lion at the Lincoln Park Zoo, it's easy to see how that's possible.
The video was shared by LazyChicagoDad and has since been viewed more than 20 million times and counting.

People were blown away by the power of the lion's mighty roar, though many had criticisms of the zoo for keeping such an animal caged up and used for entertainment. You can hear the roar for yourself in the video below:
