Have You Ever Seen A Newborn Alpaca Before?
Anastasia Arellano
To me, they sort of remind me of chrysanthemum flowers with the way their heads are fluffy and they've got long necks.

They're so furry that it naturally balances their gangly limbs. But when alpacas are born, apparently they don't look remotely like what you'd expect.
Instead, they look quite alien. They're so skinny! There is a video that captures this phenomenon as it is filmed right after the birth of one baby alpaca.

Celeste is the baby alpaca that was born.
As her humans explained to ViralHog, "Alpacas don't lick their babies clean, so we wipe and dry her with a towel."

Celeste's owner then further adds, "It usually takes 30 - 120 minutes for a cria to get to its feet and suckle from mum. Once dry she is a very fluffy cute alpaca cria and no longer looks skinny."
