Even getting a chance to explore a few feet below the surface can offer endless opportunities to see new life and habitats that are so different from those on land.

Recently, a diver in Mandelieu, France was enjoying a swim below the surface when he spotted something that caught his eye in the sand. As he looked closer, he realized he was looking at an octopus that was peeking up from the sand!
The octopus became startled and emerged from the sand, elegantly swimming up toward the surface. She even released some ink on her way up!

The best part is that the diver managed to capture the whole thing on video.
Speaking with ViralHog, the diver explained:
"I saw movement on the seafloor when I dove and I was surprised to see an octopus under the sand, but just his eyes appeared to me. He moved from the sand and moved up to the surface! What an exciting moment!"

Exciting is an understatement.
