Could Plastic Roads Be Our Future or Are They Just Paving the Way to the Road to Hell?

They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions, but could it ultimately be paved with plastics? Since plastics replaced glass decades ago as a "better" alternative there seems to be very little in the way of products or manufacturing that aspects of the material haven't permeated. Unfortunately, not all of it has been for the betterment of humankind or wildlife, for that matter.
Seldom does a day pass that we don't see a headline alerting us to the dangers of microplastics or how little of what we recycle actually ends up being recycled.
