Cat Who Was Discarded By Two Owners and Ended Up at Animal Control Finally Finds Home
Guest Contributor
Mr. Mittens was found at a gas station when he was about four weeks old, crying and in the rain. Naturally, I had to have him and keep him safe.
Last summer, Mittens and I had to say goodbye to his big brother, Generalissimo Fussypants. Fussy had a random genetic bladder disorder, and nothing could've been done. We were both a mess! We felt so empty, and he would cry all day while I was at work.
A few weeks later, a friend of mine posted on Facebook about needing to re-home a lovely little floofball named Hermia, and I knew she had to be mine. Hermia (now Muffin) had a really rough first couple of years.
She was born in a friend's closet, owner number 1 moved to Germany, owner number 2 threw her out on the street, and she was picked up by animal control. This poor little kitty was just lost and scared! Thankfully, she was still wearing a tag with my friend's phone number on it. She was able to be given a third chance... and they say third time's the charm.
With a name change, a fresh start, and lots of treats, she warmed right up to us. Her personality has done a complete 180; she's a ribbon-chasing chatterbox who just loves to be brushed. We've been a family for about seven months now, and M&M are like two peas in a pod. I am so lucky to have both of them in my life.
