Playful Sea Lion Tries To Steal Diver's Shiny Watch
Timothy Roberts
Michael Aery is an underwater photographer who is very familiar with the playful side of sea animals. This includes the sea lion that he captured in the footage below while diving near Norris Rocks on Hornby Island in British Columbia.

It would be difficult if you found yourself in such a situation not to simply allow yourself to enjoy the moment. Aery tried to enjoy it, but he also wanted to capture the moment on video for the world to enjoy.
In the video, you hear him say he is holding his camera off to the side to get a shot of the Steller Sea Lion. He even refers to the sea lion as cheeky because he is trying to take his watch.

According to Caters Clips, Aery said how curious these sea creatures can be. After logging over 700 dives over the past five years, he has had his share of experiences with these curious animals.
In many cases, he says that they will grab anything that the diver has on them. This could be one of the diver's fins, or they could go for an arm, leg, or even an air hose.

One of the things that are almost irresistible to a sea lion is a shiny object. If you have a camera or computer with you, they may go for it. Anything that shines is fair game.
Aery admits he doesn't encounter sea lions as often as he would like. After seeing the interaction in this video, we can see why. Check it out for yourself below:
