My Hero! Globe-Trotting Golden Retriever Is His Owner's Best Friend and Life-Saver
Ever heard of a dog's travel diary?
Well, this Golden Retriever's video diary on Tiktok @Finnianthegoldie is full of fun and exciting adventures. But don't get carried away by the impression.

Sure, Finnian looks like he's living an exciting and adventurous life -- but his no. 1 priority is his owner. Finnian is a service dog whose duty is to monitor his mom's heart rate and blood pressure. He's also in charge of giving her medication and water, including alerting an ambulance when necessary.
Finnian is one of the most trustworthy dogs you can meet. In one of his videos, it was shown how Finnian saved his mom's life by acting fast and accompanying her to the hospital. He never left her side, watching over his mom day and night. His mom's heart overflows with happiness because of Finnian's special devotion and love for her.

Yes, taking Finnian with her around the world means a lot of paperwork. But his mom wants to enjoy everything with him. Also, he is her guardian angel. In spite of her serious illness, she feels safer with Finnian.
Among the memorable places that Finnian and his owner have visited is South Korea, where they toured several of Asia's exotic sights and cultural attractions. Then, there are Amsterdam, Madrid, and London, where they shared the sweetness of Europe's unique charms. But touring New York City was also one of their most unforgettable times together where the Big Apple mesmerized them both with the power and beauty of a global city.

But, of course, there are places that are not dog-friendly; that's why Finnian's owner advises people with service dogs to check first with their intended destination before traveling. Also, pack a lot of patience because traveling with service dogs entails a lot of documentation.
His mom has these tips on traveling internationally with a service dog: "Definitely takes some planning and advance research ⁣✈︎⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Here are some things I like to do before visiting a new country with Finnian:⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🦮 Research regional & national laws on service dog rights (they can differ regionally within the same country or some countries do not have established laws on service dogs) ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 💰Find out if there’s import tax for dogs and how much it is if there is one (ex. some countries tax a % of how much they think the breed is worth) ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🩺 Find a veterinarian in those cities/countries in case of emergencies or to get the extra paperwork if country hopping ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🍽️ See if the same dog food Finnian eats is easily available in the country so I know how much to pack ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🐕‍🦺 Getting a leash wrap in the country’s language (esp. in a non-English speaking country)"⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣

For more than 20 years now, I’ve been devoting my heart, energy, and time to fulfilling my dream, which – many people may agree – is not among the easiest aspirations in life. Part of my happiness is having been able to lend a hand to many individuals, companies, and even governments as an investigative journalist, creative writer, TV director, and radio broadcaster.

At home, I spend my free time learning how to cook various cuisines. Tiramisu, chocolate mousse, and banoffee pie are my favorite desserts. Playing with our dogs, Mushu and Jerusalem, is also a special part of my day. And, of course, I read a lot – almost anything under the sun. But what really makes me feel alive is meeting people from various walks of life and writing about their stories, which echo with the tears and triumph of an unyielding spirit, humanity, and wisdom.
