Alzheimer's is the most expensive disease in America

Increase Alzheimer's Research Funding

Alzheimer’s disease is a global health crisis. The soaring costs of Alzheimer’s and dementia care, the escalating number of people living with the disease and the challenges encountered by affected families demand a meaningful, aggressive and ambitious effort to solve this crisis. The urgency is clear. Alzheimer’s can’t wait.

In order to change the trajectory of this devastating disease, we must take bold steps now toward providing better support for the millions of Americans navigating Alzheimer’s and finding treatments, prevention and, one day, a cure. Urge Congress to increase funding for Alzheimer’s research so we can continue to work toward our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s disease.

Tell Congress that you’re counting on them to throw their full support behind making Alzheimer’s a top priority on Capitol Hill.

Congress must act now on Alzheimer’s!

The Petition

Dear [Decision Maker],

As an Alzheimer's Association advocate, I am writing to request that you make Alzheimer's disease a national priority by supporting additional funding for Alzheimer's research.

The soaring global costs of Alzheimer's and dementia care, the escalating number of people living with the disease and the challenges encountered by affected families demand a meaningful, aggressive and ambitious effort to solve this crisis.

America cannot continue down its current path — it's up to you to help change the trajectory of Alzheimer's disease. Today, the more than 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer's cost our nation an estimated $259 billion, including $175 billion to Medicare and Medicaid. Barring the development of medical breakthroughs, by 2050, the number of those living with Alzheimer's will nearly triple, costing more than $1 trillion.

The urgency is clear. Alzheimer's can't wait.

This enormous and unsustainable strain on our health care system, families, and federal and state budgets is avoidable. We must ensure that researchers have the resources they need to change the trajectory of Alzheimer's disease. Please support efforts to increase funding for Alzheimer's and dementia research.

We must take bold steps now towards providing better supports for the millions of Americans navigating Alzheimer's and finding treatments, prevention and, one day, a cure.

Sincerely,
