Students need every opportunity to get ahead, particularly in this difficult economy. While excessive student loan debt is a serious concern, so are steps being taken in Washington, D.C. that will cut jobs, eliminate college programs, and could decrease the value of hard earned education for working adults.

Let's stop singling out sectors of higher education for unfair, unbalanced congressional hearings and discriminatory rules. Let's start focusing on steps that will improve educational access, opportunity and quality for all Americans. If there are problems, let's find them and work together to get them fixed. But there is no one way to learn and no one way to achieve success, either in the class room or the workplace.
