Get Under the Sun and Reduce Your Risk for Parkinson's!

Vitamin D deficiency causes many health problems in humans, such as rickets and brain disorders. Recently, studies on vitamin D have also revealed a link between vitamin D deficiency and Parkinson's disease.

We can attribute the majority of our vitamin D intake to the sun. It helps our brains produce dopamine. The recent Parkinson's studies revealed a compelling relation of a lack of dopamine in the brain to Parkinson's disease: the less vitamin D present in the human brain to produce dopamine and protect healthy nerve cells, the higher the risk of contracting the disease.

Though Parkinson's disease isn't completely preventable, we can make strides toward protecting our own health. Sign your name below pledging to spend a few minutes in the sun per day (with sunscreen!), or talk with your doctor about how to healthfully supply your body with daily doses of vitamin D.
