Chimps that were once safe now face possible transfer to a research program that will conduct experiments on them. Act now!
Back in the late 1990s, hundreds of chimpanzees were rescued from research facilities that were conducting harmful, and at times even fatal, experiments on them. These chimps had been exposed to all types of deadly diseases — most frequently HIV and hepatitis C. Other tests were also performed such as surgical and anesthesiological experiments.
While the chimpanzees were removed in order to protect their safety, they now face the risk of having to return to the research facilities they came from. Because the contract is coming to an end with the center who initially took in the chimps, the animals are in danger of having to go through more invasive and damaging tests.
**These chimpanzees do not deserve to undergo medical experiments and suffer because of them. Sign the petition asking Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius to ensure the chimps are given good homes and not transferred back to the research companies.**
