Sea turtles like the one pictured are just some of the victims of negligence in the offshore drilling industry. Take action now!
The "Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling" has presented the results of its comprehensive, nonpartisan investigation of the worst environmental disaster in American history — revealing systemic and industry-wide missteps and safety lapses that could lead to another catastrophe.
The Deepwater Horizon oil disaster devastated the Gulf Coast economy and claimed the lives of 11 workers and scores of animals, including threatened and endangered sea turtles, brown pelicans and dolphins. The long-term ecological impacts of the disaster may not be known for years.
Congress has yet to act in response to this disaster, to ensure that this risky industry operates in our national interest and accepts full financial liability for its mistakes. **Urge your representative and senators to take action now!**
