Send an AIDS Orphan to School in Zambia
SKU: SKU: SK-76419
Help a Zambian child who has been orphaned by AIDS to attend school and work towards a better future.
For Zambian children who have lost one or both parents to AIDS or other calamities, going to school is an almost impossible dream. Primary education through age 7 is free, but families struggling to support many orphans must pay for uniforms and school materials. At high school, tuition is charged, which forces most vulnerable children to stop attending school altogether.
"A good basic education itself ranks among the most effective — and cost-effective — means of HIV prevention." ~(World Bank) Giving the opportunity for an education to an AIDS orphan does not merely profoundly affect the child herself; it also affects the choices she makes later in life, and thus her community, town, and even her country as a whole.

Monifa
Monifa is a 13-year old double orphan who lives with her grandmother in a slum in Kitwe, Zambia. Her grandmother cares for 11 children and 19 grandchildren. Thanks to Cecily's fund Monifa is now able to attend 6th grade at Kamitondo Basic School in Kitwe, where she has access to a dedicated teacher as well as being provided with school supplies, shoes and a school uniform. Without this funding she would not be able to pursue her dream of completing school.
Cecily's Fund is a non-profit working to improve educational opportunities for children in Zambia, especially for orphans who want to achieve a better future.
You can help! Your contribution makes a difference in the life of an AIDS orphan by helping provide tuition, books, supplies, exam fees, calculator, school uniform and shoes, pens, books, supplies, and help with exam fees. Choose a $20 contribution to help, $65 to help for one semester of secondary school, or $85 to cover an entire year of primary school.
Cecily's Fund works with local Zambian partner organizations to enable orphans and vulnerable children to attend primary and secondary school, giving them hope for the future. Cecily's Fund also trains more than 50 graduates each year as peer health educators, giving them the chance to work with school children and so contribute to the fight against AIDS, and supports over 30 orphan school-leavers annually in tertiary education, to study on teacher-training programs.
