Help close the healthcare gap by bringing early detection to those who cannot afford it.

Mammograms are one of the best methods to catch breast cancer before it's too late. In fact, if the disease is caught early enough, the five-year survival rate is 96%.

But many women in the United States lack health insurance that covers the full cost of mammograms, and cannot afford to pay for them out-of-pocket.

According to a recent report from the American Cancer Society, low-income women in at least twenty states are being turned away or put on long waiting lists for free cancer screenings. At least fourteen states cut budgets for free cancer screenings this year: Colorado, Montana, Illinois, Alabama, Minnesota, Connecticut, South Carolina, Utah, Missouri, Washington, Ohio, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Arkansas. In California alone, state cutbacks will leave an estimated 100,000 poverty-stricken women unable to get cancer screenings over the next six months.

So far we have supported over 2,600 mammograms for low income, underinsured women in need across the U.S. and also extend internationally in Sierra Leone, where there is currently one mammography machine in the entire country!

Elsewhere in the world, the access to mammograms and the ability to catch the disease in its most treatable stages continues to be unavailable to most women. Yet the rate of breast cancer continues to grow. It is now the most common cancer in women in both developing and developed areas and the principal cause of death from cancer among women globally. Take Sierra Leone for instance, with one mammography machine and one oncologist in the entire country we are supporting women to receive the care they are in desperate need of.

You can help. This Gift That Gives More™ helps fund free mammograms for low income, uninsured and working poor women.

Breast cancer screenings are saving lives!

AICFGMA

In the last year, funds from this program have gone to support efforts to screen women for breast cancer. The American-Italian Cancer Foundation, among other programs, have used donations from people like you to help underserved women in communities all over the world.

In the last 3 months, 155 mammograms were conducted using funds donated to the American-Italian Cancer Foundation from our generous supporters. Their efforts helped six women women detect breast cancer and get the life-saving treatment they needed. The Cancer Screening Project has been able to perform 249 screening mammograms total in Louisiana. In Washington DC funding was able to provide 239 screening mammograms to uninsured patients, 3 of which detected breast cancer.

This fall, the efforts of this organization were celebrated by an appearance on Good Morning America. Without support from donors like you, GreaterGood.org would not be able to support the good work of organizations like the American-Italian Cancer Foundation.
