"New beginnings happen every day at our shelter, and your generosity helps make that possible. Again, thank you for all you do to help homeless and abandoned animals." ~Alexandra "Alex" Nather, Nebraska Humane Society
Shelters large and small are dealing with more animals coming in and fewer donations due to the lackluster economy. As a result, shelters' need for food and supplies, vaccinations, veterinary care, spay/neuter programs, and improvements or expansions of shelter facilities is greater than ever, but the ability to pay for these things gets harder with each passing year.
Since 2008, The Animal Rescue Site has funded hundreds of grants for shelters of all sizes, in every state of the country and beyond, through The Animal Rescue Site Shelter+ Challenge - with Petfinder.com. Shelters have used this money to help homeless animals, and even better, the Challenge has given them a high-profile opportunity to raise awareness about animal rescue, spreading the word about adoption and where to go for help.
By the end of 2011, the Shelter Challenge will have distributed more than $900,000 to hundreds of shelters. "This program sponsored by The Animal Rescue Site has been a wonderful opportunity for Petfinder.com members," said Liz Neuschatz, director of the Petfinder.com Foundation. "The winners have something to really celebrate, but even those who don't win have benefited from their communities coming together to act on behalf of homeless pets."
You can help ensure that this program continues, reaching even more shelters and rescue organizations in 2012 and beyond. 100% of your gift through this Gift That Gives More™ funds grants for worthy shelters of all sizes and types.
