Send a Child to School in Cambodia

Help rural, impoverished children in Cambodia attend school!
The cost of school supplies, uniforms, and books are often too much for Cambodian families who make their living as subsistence farmers. There is virtually no government support to get their children into school, and many families have to choose one child to attend school, with the hope that the child will come home and teach the rest. This perpetuates the country's shortage of educated people rooted in the Khmer Rouge's genocide just a few short decades ago.
Decades of war, civil conflict, and political instability have resulted in massive social, economic, and cultural devastation along with widespread poverty and illness. Close to half of Cambodia's population are age 21 or younger, underscoring the importance of education for the country's future.
When children are given basic supplies, uniforms, and books for class, they can restart their education. Quality education is central to the development of future leaders, eradication of poverty, and promotion of health standards. It is a vital component to the successful rebuilding of Cambodia's civil society.
You can help. Just $12.00 sends a child in Cambodia to school for a year.
The Ponheary Ly Foundation (PLF) works to increase access to formal schooling, improve school retention, and strengthen the quality of educational experience for children and youth in northern Cambodia. PLF promotes increased literacy rates, closing the education gender gap, improving school attendance in rural villages, and supplementing the resources for schools across the nation.
