GROW (Girls' Right to Opportunity Worldwide) is a GreaterGood.org Signature Program committed to removing barriers that prevent girls across the globe from attaining their right to quality education. Barriers include, but are not limited to, lack of access to school, quality educators, inability to cover costs to attend and pay for school-related supplies, health-related concerns, lack of menstrual hygiene products, and unequal gender constructs that are reinforced through education systems. Through partnerships with quality international organizations in multiple countries, we assist local leaders on the ground to tackle their most prominent needs related to girls' education.

To help families cover the costs of secondary education, GreaterGood's GROW program is providing funding for tuition, books, uniforms, and whatever is standing in the way for these girls in need, wherever they are.

Update from the Field
February 2017

In our global partnership with organizations around the world, we’ve identified a few main barriers to quality education that reach far beyond tuition assistance. Other primary initiatives include safe transportation, menstrual hygiene, quality of education, proper nutrition, early child marriage, and gender inequity. Together, we have improved the lives of thousands of girls around the world. We are committed to expanding our reach and efforts to more children and young women in need. Join us in our continuing efforts to help girls receive a quality education!

History of GreaterGood's Involvement in Girls Education

• Successfully funded over 200 girls to go to school in 10 countries
• Safely transported 550 girls to & from school daily in Afghanistan
• Distributed 995 menstrual hygiene kits to girls in Uganda
• Provided seed funding for a menstrual hygiene business in Malawi
• Built the first ever secondary school on Lagonave, in Haiti
• Provided egg laying hens to 151 girls on LaGonave, in Haiti
• Distributed 986,859 meals to 2,288 Burmese refugees in Thailand
• Helped prevent child marriage in India
• Inspired 35 girls in 4 countries to tell their stories of resilience & strength through digital media

GreaterGood.org is devoted to addressing the health and well-being of people (particularly women and children), animals, and the planet.

In pursuit of these goals, GGO is focusing effort on young girls around the world -- their health and well-being, their safety, and their education. The GROW program directly funds innovative, effective programs that keep girls in school throughout their secondary education years, wherever they are most needed.
