Provide Seeds for Families in Nepal - Help Now
SKU: SKU: SK-111061
The recent devastating earthquakes and subsequent aftershocks in Nepal have decimated the farm plots and seed supplies of tens of thousands of families in Nepal. These families rely on their home farms to supply food for their families and crops to sell for income. If they lose this years' crop, they will have no food through the summer months. And with the planting season for rice just weeks away, it is urgent to provide rice seeds to those in need as soon as possible.
GreaterGood.org is working with our non-profit partners in the Dhading, Nuwakot, Sindhupalchowk and Dolakha districts to purchase seeds and impermeable grain bags to store and protect the seeds from future natural disasters, rodents, and insects. We are creating 6 month seed supplies with rice, vegetable, and legume seeds along with grain bags. Each kilogram of rice seeds will produce 700 kilograms of rice for a family.
You can help. Just $42 provides a seed kit to a family in Nepal to grow food for the next 6 months.
Update from the Field
June 2015
The devastating earthquakes and subsequent aftershocks have pushed Nepalese families to the brink of survival. After six weeks of hardship, rural families in Nepal were finally given some hope for the future— through the arrival of seeds. The initial batch of rice seeds have arrived for families in Nepal. Locals are both relieved and excited to have seeds in time for rice planting season.
With your continued support, we can provide these families with rice seeds to ensure no family goes hungry as a result of these devestating earthquakes.
