Environmental Education for Refugee Youth

Help refugee youth connect with and restore our natural environment.

Across the globe, we are experiencing humanitarian and environmental challenges that effect the health and well-being of people and the planet alike. Often forgotten in today's technological society is the importance of connecting with the natural world around us. To create solutions and act in meaningful ways, it is imperative to teach our youth how to form a restorative, hopeful and healthful future.

Youth Outdoor Experience (YOE) is dedicated to providing children of all cultural backgrounds the opportunity to participate in outdoor experiential education. YOE takes students through diverse ecosystems of the Sonoran Desert region of Southern Arizona, where they receive a hands-on environmental education experience. These journeys teach children environmental stewardship practices as well as community action leadership. Youth attending these camps receive expert instruction and mentorship in natural history, ecology and sustainability. It is their goal to teach children the importance of environmental issues and promote positive community action and development.

We are working with Youth Outdoor Experience to provide scholarships for students to enroll in a multi-year environmental stewardship and community action program. Youth receive expert instruction, transportation, outdoor and science equipment and gear, and hiking shoes. Help us reach our $8,000 goal to send 20 children on an experiential nature journey!
