Kenyan Habitat Preservation Carbon Offset

GreaterGood has partnered with Wildlife Works to offer carbon offsets from the world's first successful REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation) project. REDD+ was created by the United Nations to help stop the destruction of the world's forests. For over 15 years Wildlife Works has established a successful model to protect threatened forests, wildlife, and communities.

It is estimated the average American produces 18 tons of carbon waste in a single year. Your purchase of these carbon offsets helps protect the land of the Rukinga ranch in the Kasigau Corridor of Kenya, effectively counteracting your effect on the planet by ensuring healthy, thriving forests remain. Natural reserves retain and recycle atmospheric carbon emissions, producing necessary oxygen and nutrients in return. A printable certificate to commemorate your contribution will be emailed at the time of purchase.

The Kasigau Corridor REDD+ initiative protects over 500,000 acres of highly threatened Kenyan forest and connects the wildlife corridor between Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks, and finances community development efforts for more than 100,000 people in the surrounding communities.

Animals that call this area home include 50 species of large mammals, 20 species of bats, over 300 species of birds, and important populations of IUCN Red List species such as Grevy's Zebra, Cheetah, Lion, African Wild Dog, as well as over 2,000 African Elephants.
