Protect Wild Chimpanzees and Gorillas from Smugglers

Help wildlife centers protect animals in Africa from wildlife traffickers!

In protected forests in Africa, wildlife smugglers shoot down chimpanzees and gorillas and trap them with cruel wire snares in order to butcher them for the illegal bushmeat trade. The babies, who are too small to eat, are sold on the black market to be pets. In other areas, baby primates are stolen from the forest to be trafficked to China or the Middle East where they are sold as pets or put on exhibit in appallingly inhumane zoos. An estimated 3,000 great apes are lost every year as a result of the black market ape trade.

PASA member wildlife centers across Africa work with law enforcement agencies to protect wild populations of endangered species including chimpanzees and gorillas. They send forest patrols to find and arrest wildlife traffickers, as well as to remove snares. They reduce the number of poachers and rescue wild animals from horrific fates. With support more teams of anti-poaching units will be dispersed to increase protection of these amazing animals.
