Provide Street Houses for Abandoned Dogs & Cats
SKU: SKU: SK-161281
Vulnerable populations are the first to suffer in times of conflict and upheaval. In Pancevo, Serbia, when war and troubled political times disrupted living standards for its population, people no longer able to care for their pets turn them onto the streets to fend for themselves as best they can. But domesticated pets are no match for mean and crowded streets, and there are no humane laws or funding in Serbia to protect them. Attempts to periodically clear streets of abandoned pets are most often trap-and-kill, or "sheltering" animals in very poor conditions.
It's estimated that ~ 2000 dogs and ~3500 cats are living on the streets of Pancevo today. Animal control programs began in 2011, and Society for the Protection of Animals has stepped into help. One unique solution is a "One House Saves A Life" system of placing houses for street animals and organizing feeding stations around the city.
We need your help to build dog houses and cat houses for these street animals!
Street cats and dogs will be caught, spayed or neutered, and given any necessary medical care. They will then be returned to the streets, with caretakers who feed them. All animals in the program are microchipped, and the city of Pancevo is their legal owner and guarantor of their safety and well-being.
You can help! As little as $15 ensures a street animal receives desperately needed care!
The mission of the Society for the Protection of Animals "Ljubimci" is to create animal-friendly environments within responsible societies that understand the importance of animal protection and welfare.
