Provide Spay and Neuter Services to Underserved Areas

Millions of adoptable pets are still being euthanized in shelters in the United States. Why are they euthanized? Primarily because of lack of space in shelters. Spay and neuter is often lacking in communities with high shelter intakes and euthanasia rates. Due to the high birth rate of unaltered pets in these areas coupled with high owner surrender, open enrollment shelters become overwhelmed with incoming pets. Many struggle to transfer pets to partners for adoption to keep from euthanizing, however high costs for transport and lack of resources many times ends with pets that do not make it out.

Fido Fixers provides low cost spay and neuter services using a surgical mobile clinic in areas with high euthanasia rates. By fixing dogs and cats, animals are spared the suffering caused by pet overpopulation. Fido Fixers needs to add more mobile clinics to its fleet in order to help the many organizations that need its service (areas that are financially distressed and underserved often lacking local veterinary clinics or municipal animal control departments). Currently, Fido Fixers has five mobile veterinary clinics that it leases for $1 per month to qualified partners. It has been operating in Macon, Georgia, Memphis and Eastern Tennessee, Columbia, South Carolina, Starkville, Mississippi and Southern Texas. As of May, 2018 Fido Fixers and its partners have "fixed" over 38,000 dogs and cats.

Fido Fixers is a charitable 501(c)(3) all-volunteer organization with the mission to purchase mobile surgical clinics and then provide them to animal welfare organizations located in the areas with the highest euthanasia rates. Fido Fixers travel to underserved and economically distressed areas and provides these communities much needed high-impact, low-cost services.
