Provide Life-Saving Water to People & Wildlife in South Africa
SKU: SKU: SK-191629
Many animals, including lions rescued from war in Ukraine, are at risk of running out of life-sustaining water. You can help by digging an urgently needed well.
Thornhill is one South African community which is completely out of water. Members have been forced to truck in tankers, a costly endeavor in terms of money, time, and energy. Because of this water shortage, the Warriors of Wildlife animal sanctuary located in Thornhill is in crisis. A well must be dug, and soon, to provide water for the animals in their care.
Warriors of Wildlife (WOW) works to rescue captive wildlife in need and relocate it to species-appropriate sanctuaries. The Thornhill sanctuary is currently home to 11 lions and a tiger—nearly all rescued from Ukraine! Not only are there big cats living in this sanctuary, but giraffes, wildebeest, zebra, kudu, waterbuck, nyala, impala, blesbok, bushpig, warthog, a troupe of monkeys and over 108 documented bird species call it home!
To keep the animals and people of Thornhill from going thirsty, Greater Good Charities' Project Peril program is working alongside Warriors of Wildlife to build a well for the community, providing much-needed water to the WOW sanctuary and locals.
The town is estimated to be sitting on enough water to pump 5,000–7,000 liters per hour into the community for many years. This will be life-sustaining for the animals in the sanctuary—some of which require up to 10 gallons of water every day!
You can help build a well to sustain lives in South Africa! A donation of just $22 digs one foot of this life-saving well. Give today.
