Danbury Animal Welfare Society, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community and beyond. We promote responsible pet guardianship and the humane treatment of animals, and work toward ending animal overpopulation through education and a variety of programs. We take pride in the work we do – working to keep homeless pets safe, happy and sheltered. Last year we set a record-breaking year of over 1,200 adoptions. We also cared for over 2,000 animals in our clinic by offering low-cost spay and neuter procedures to the community and other rescues. Danbury Animal Welfare Society’s vision is to be the regional leader in placing dogs and cats in qualified adoptive homes. We strive to build a modern facility that enables us to expand our rescue and adoption, community outreach and education services. Our ground-breaking date for Phase 1 to rebuild our Kennel is Oct 1, 21. By defining leading animal welfare and operational practices DAWS will continue to grow as a trusted community resource.

Greater Good Charities and The Animal Rescue Site are joining NBC and Telemundo stations’ Clear The Shelters pet adoption campaign to support shelters and rescues across the country by encouraging individuals to donate funds to help animal welfare groups with the most critical needs.

Each summer, shelters and rescues face an added stress on their resources from increases in puppy and kitten intakes due to spring litters. In 2021 shelters are reporting higher than normal intake rates, with unprecedented overpopulation in some areas. They need you now.

Beginning on Tuesday, August 31 at 12pm PT, Hill’s Pet Nutrition is again matching all donations dollar for dollar up to $25,000. All gifts will be doubled until the match runs out! Starting at noon PT on that day, a $25,000 total pool will be made available.
