Rescue One is a licensed 501c3 non-profit organization founded eight years ago. We are a foster-based animal rescue for dogs and cats, not a shelter, so all of our animals are placed in loving foster homes until they are adopted. To date, we have rescued over 11,000 animals. We provide many resources to our community that set us apart from other rescues in our area with the main being our Trapping and Emergency Rescue Team. We partner with the Greene County Sheriff's department along with other surrounding policy departments to assist in the rescue of animals they come across in legal situations. We actively trap and rescue stray and injured animals in Greene and surrounding counties, regardless of time of day or night, breed and severity of injuries. In 2021 we began a new partnership with Greene County Department of Justice and Harmony House, our SafePet Program, to provide temporary foster care for victims of abuse while they establish a safe place to live. Through our SafePet Program we also provide all medical care necessary which includes vaccinations, spay/neuter and any other medical treatment necessary to keep them healthy all at no cost to the victim. We have opened our own internet veterinary clinic available for our fosters which has allowed us to increase our intakes and decrease our vetting costs. Our main goal is to end animal negligence, abuse and the need for shelters by providing low cost resources and education to our community. We hold Low Cost Vaccination Clinics almost monthly and also provide Outreach Services that assist in paying for spays and neuters for people in the community that are not able to afford it themselves.

Help your local shelter & pets in need.
Greater Good Charities and The Animal Rescue Site are joining NBC and Telemundo stations’ Clear The Shelters pet adoption campaign to support shelters and rescues across the country by encouraging individuals to donate funds to help animal welfare groups with the most critical needs.
Each summer, shelters and rescues face an added stress on their resources from increases in puppy and kitten intakes due to spring litters. In 2022 shelters are reporting higher than normal intake rates, with unprecedented overpopulation in some areas. They need you now.
